Excellent opportunity to combine the coast and the Peruvian highlands, start the visit to the beautiful colonial zone of Lima, capital of Peru, opportunity to taste the Peruvian ceviche; stew based on fish. Continue the visit to the city of Arequipa, known as “the white city” by the volcanic rock called “sillar”, carved rock often used in residential buildings, the convent of Santa Catalina, the famous Colca canyon and appreciate the Overflight of the condors, large Andean birds, continue to the capital of the Inca Empire, Cusco, we can appreciate the Inca architecture as the Koricancha, the Cathedral, beautiful colonial relic, the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, considered “ceremonial fortress”, daily Next, visit the beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas; finally the impressive legacy of the Inca Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. Trip to the city of Arequipa, hours north of the city of Arequipa Peru. There is the Colca River where adventurers practice canoeing. The impressive Colca Canyon is 4160 meters of average depth. On the way, see interesting landscapes and condors flying over the mountains, llamas, alpacas, guanacos, vicuñas, vizcachas adorn the canyon, a natural witness is the blue mountain sky and the chain of mountains.

Itinerary

Colonial Lima

Day 01.- arrival to International airport Jorge Chávez, the Antara guide will contact you at the airport and accompany to your chosen hotel, and give detailed information of the itinerary.

Day 02.- visit to the Historic Centre of Lima, appreciate a considerable number of old big houses, modern avenues highlighting the Paseo de la República, squares as Plaza San Martin, Plaza de Armas, the Government Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, the Cathedral Basilica, Municipal Palace between others. Visit to Banco Central of Reserva Museum where you can appreciate a select exposition of gold artifacts, ceramic and textiles of diverse pre Columbus cultures. Then we visit the Church of San Francisco which is the largest exhibition of the religious art of colonial America. Highlighting the subterranean crypts known as “Catacombs”. Return to the hotel.

Arequipa – Colonial and Santa Catalina Convent

Day 03.- The city tour begins in the square Plaza de Armas; the Cathedral a Peruvian architecture of 18 Century that keeps gold and silver treasures; and the Church of the Campania, old Jesuit temple with beautiful facade, columns carved spiral, Laurel wreaths, flowers, birds, etc. Then, we will visit the Santa Catalina convent, a “small town” of 17 Century, open to the public in 1970 after 400 years of cloister, a four centuries journey in the past. You will visit spacious courtyards and gardens, a kitchen and the slave rooms, and some stone laundries of the convent. Return to the hotel.

Arequipa – Colca Canyon – The Flight of the condor.

Day 04.- We begin the tour very early. First, we will go from Arequipa city to Chivay (03 hours), the capital of Colca Canyon. Breakfast. Then we will go the viewpoint of “The Condor Croix” where we could see the depth of canyon and the flight of the majestic the condor.

We will visit picturesque villages such as Yanque and Maca town, and colonial churches, there friendly people live whom dress typical suits made by themselves; hundreds of pre-inca terraces are used by local people to plant corn, quinoa, kiwicha and other products. After lunch, we will return to Arequipa city but we will stop on the highest part (Patapampa to 4800 m.a.s.l.) there we will see snow mountains, and Vicuñas, alpacas and llamas in their wild state (Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve), also we will see some bird like Flamingos, Andean eagle “Kara Kara”, ducks, herons, etc. (at 18:00 approx. we will arrive to Arequipa).

Arequipa to Cusco

Day 05.- Reception at the airport of Cusco city, transfer to chosen hotel; general information will be given by the Antara guide. Later, city tour of imperial city of Cusco with the guide, it begins at Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, the Sun Palace or Koricancha, visitors can see typical inca streets; also, visit to ruins of Sacsayhuaman located in the high side of city, this place is ideal to take pictures, then the Quenco amphitheater, Puca Pucara, the “the bath of Ñusta”, Tambomachay. Return to hotel.

Cusco – Sacred Valley of the Incas

Day 06.- After breakfast the guide will go to your hotel for Sacred Valley of the Incas trip, it begins with a lovely experience, in route to Pisac we will visit the Handicraft center Awanachancha, see the camelids like llama, alpaca, vicuña animal of fine wool, and the guanaco. After, we will go to handicraft market of Pisac, where locals keep an Inca commercial system called “barter” it is interchange of product by product. Then a delicious rural lunch, in the country estate house “Orihuela”, where there are some Inca pieces and paintings of the School Cusquean, finally, we will visit the Inca town Ollantaytambo, where the streets and houses of Inca style are preserved. Return to hotel.

Cusco – Machu Picchu

Day 07.- After the breakfast. You will go to train station and the Antara guide will give you information about the tour before boarding the train to Machu Picchu citadel. On the road we will see the snow mountains, the begin of Inca Road, inca terraces that were used for agriculture; finally, we arrive to Aguas Calientes. We will realize the change of climate; the guide will carry you to the bus to climb the ruins. We will visit the “the Lost City of the Incas” the opportunity to take lot of pictures, then the lunch time and train to return to Cusco City.

Machu Picchu – Cusco

Day 08.- We start our tour very early. Second chance to explore the citadel, maybe you want to climb Wayna Picchu (young mountain), and be able to take awesome photos of the citadel, or go to the Gate of the Sun “intipunku” in Quechua language, later we will return to the Cusco city. Hotel night.

Cusco – Lima

Day 09.- The Antara Guide will be at the given time to accompany you at the airport for you take your international flight.
